Execution Performance Habits (EPH-12)

Habits aren’t "knowledge" and they aren’t "culture." They are the specific actions we take every day, built through consistent practice and feedback.

Habits aren't subjective or role dependent how they are demonstrated depends on context, but they are for everyone every day.

Environment: More Energy

The six environment performance habits create a low-threat world where enabled employees choose to give their discretionary effort. Where these habits are embedded employees deliver discretionary effort, take opportunities for development and have high retention rates.

High energy begins with safe to try, an environment in which you won't be blamed for trying.

  • E1: Simple and True – Say it simply. Say it kindly. Leave true impressions.

  • E2: Be Open – Show the lot. Invite the truth. Keep doors open.

  • E3: Own Mistakes – Apologise promptly. Fix the wrong. Stay humble.

The discretionary effort is amplified when it is worth trying ie the contribution will be heard, respected and credited.

  • E4: Really Listen – Listen first. Speak second. Hear what matters.

  • E5: Value Others – Value the person. Respect the voice. Encourage all.

  • E6: One Team – Share the credit. Speak well of others, always. Let others lead.

The Execution Logic

In a world where external direction is provided, sufficient capability is available and a shared commitment (a why) is established, these 12 integrated habits serve as the operational engine to drive performance.

By balancing the Environment habits that provide the safety to take personal risks with the Performance habits that ensure high accountability and clarity, the framework eliminates the friction of misalignment. This integration ensures that high engagement does not decay into comfortable consensus, nor high clarity into rigid micromanagement.

The result is a high-output system characterised by low waste, razor-sharp effectiveness and the unlocked discretionary effort required to step up and deliver.
